2009 ASG

Chapter of the Year!

The Greater Seattle chapter of the American Sewing Guild

About Us and the American Sewing Guild

How We Started...

We met over the Internet and started out on January 18, 1999 with two people meeting at a Starbucks in Bellevue, Washington. (An appropriate beginning for a chapter in Microsoft's backyard and with a Seattle-based Starbucks on every corner!) Within a year and a half, our chapter had grown to over 100 members! We currently have several Neighborhood Groups and special interest groups, all enjoyed by many wonderful sewing enthusiasts. The American Sewing Guild allows us to share the love of sewing through educational programs and chapter events. ASG offers opportunities to learn more about sewing and provides a place to make new friends.

Where to find us...

We cover a large part of Washington state in the Puget Sound area. We cover Seattle, Everett, Bellevue, Renton, Redmond, West Seattle, LaConner, Whatcom County and surrounding areas. Our chapter covers a large geographic area. Within the chapter we have smaller neighborhood groups and special interest groups.

Our neighboring Washington state chapters are the Silverdale chapter, which covers the Olympic peninsula to the west of us, and the Olympia chapter, covering the areas to the south of us. And in eastern Washington, you can belong to the Spokane/Couer d'Alene chapter. Each chapter covers a large geographic area beyond the town that it is named for.

Interested in joining us?

Join our group and share in all the benefits. Connect with other sewing enthusiasts in your area, get discounts from national and local retailers, receive our chapter newsletter "SewCrazy" and the national newsletter "Notions," and share in the fun and learning at the neighborhood group meetings. Need fitting help? That's what your fellow members are for. Need encouragement? Tired of "going it alone"? Want to learn more about techniques, trends, and notions? You can get it all at your neighborhood group meetings and chapter events. And once you're a member, you can go to any ASG meeting in the nation!

Just fill out a membership application, available on the ASG National site. Send it in with your membership fee and contact us! We'll let you know where the nearest neighborhood group is and we'll look forward to seeing you at our meetings and events.
